VMware Hybrid Cloud Solutions
Advantages of a Hybrid Cloud Solution:
• Fixed monthly hosting costs
• Achieve a "best of both worlds" solution (cloud & physical environments)
• Allow for phased physical to virtual migration
• Allows integration of legacy IT systems to VMware cloud servers
• Use custom hardware appliances with your VMware cloud servers
What is a Hybrid VMware cloud?
A hybrid cloud is an environment where more traditional dedicated servers and network equipment (perhaps an existing collocated infrastructure) are integrated with Qube's VMware based cloud platform.
Why might I need a Hybrid VMware Cloud solution?
Typically we find that there are two scenarios where a hybrid cloud solution is used:
When you have servers or network devices that are not suitable for virtualisation:
For example, if you have a large database cluster that uses a large amount of resources (RAM, CPU and I/O) or in the case of custom network appliances.
Legacy IT systems that are in the process of migration or unable to be virtualised:
For example, you have a legacy non-x86 environment or an existing colocation environment. You still want to leverage the flexibility and benefits of a VMware cloud solution, but the migration process will take some time to execute.
How is Hybrid Cloud integration achieved?
Qube will host your physical dedicated servers and network devices in our data centre. We will interconnect these devices or your colocation environment with our VMware cloud platform. In the case of migration, your physical environment will eventually be decommissioned once the migration has been successfully completed.
